Funeral Held For Elder Ashton Woman Howe
Elizabeth Ann Howe oldest Jones daughter born July 29 1831 near Delaware Ohio died November 27 1915 at Ashton Illinois aged 84 years 8 months 28 days. She married William R Howe at 19 and lived on farms in Iowa and Illinois before settling in Ashton from 1872 except for about a year. Widowed in 1908 she was cared for by her daughter and remained a church member reading the Bible daily until blindness. Surviving: three children John B Howe Samuel J Howe and Addie M Gilbert, plus eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at the Methodist Episcopal church in Ashton with Rev Fred A Graham officiating. interment in Ashton cemetery. Out of town attendees listed.

The Eastern Star held a masquerade in the Masonic hall Tuesday night with eighty attendees in varied costumes. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Rachael Webster fell on Friday, injuring her knee and remaining bedridden under a doctor's care. Former Ashton Girl Killed by Sterling Train at Creston Depot
Minnie Busse twenty one daughter of Mrs. Henry Busse of Rochelle was killed when crossing in front of an incoming Sterling passenger train at Creston depot Tuesday evening. She was a seamstress in Creston intending to ride home, and either fainted or fell on the track. Survived by parents three brothers and two sisters. Tuberculosis week observances urged by Illinois State Tuberculosis Association with National Medical Examination Day and Children’s Health Crusade Day on December 8 10 and 12 respectively to promote early diagnosis and prevention. Brothers of Ashton Lady Killed in City
Two brothers of Mrs Henry Cupp of Ashton Dixon and Chicago men Fred Coe and Roy Johnson died in a Thanksgiving Day auto crash at 95th Street Chicago. Coe died at a hospital the next morning and Johnson after several hours at St Bernards hospital.
