Citizens at noon heard the fire bell as the roof of Mrs. H. Clayton's kitchen caught flame. Fire engine and hook and ladder crew arrived quickly and the blaze was checked before a hose line could be laid.
Rochelle and Ashton Clash in 17–0 Football Sweep
The Rochelle visiting Ashton team won 17 to 0 with all scores in the first half. Ashton played shorthanded with eight men but showed well. School Entertainment Highlights Reynolds District Event
A school entertainment by Reynolds township pupils from School District 116 took place Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Smith. About seventy five locals attended as Bert Gallup, the teacher, received praise for guiding the program. Performances included a humorous German selection by J. W. Theil, and readings by Mrs. Geo. Noggle, J. W. Theil, Bert Gallup, and a song by Miss Anna Wetzel. Attorney Arthur G. Harris of Dixon addressed the audience on parental obligation to education.
