Funeral Service Honors Early Oregon Settler Joseph Hawthorn
Joseph Fox Hawthorn, Civil War veteran and longtime Oregon resident, died November 8, 1911 at his son Willard's home aged 77 years four months and twenty three days. Born June 16, 1834 in Washington County New York, he moved to Illinois as a child and settled near Oregon. He served in the Illinois Volunteer Infantry through the Civil War, was a longtime G A R member, and a devout Methodist. He leaves three children Willard Florence and Leo and a sister Mrs Mary Rutledge. Funeral services were held in Oregon on Saturday conducted by Rev Alfred E Simester.

Obituary of Charles E. Hicks Lincoln resident and former Webster lawmaker
Charles E. Hicks born May 3 1858 in Somerset County Pennsylvania died November 3 1911 at his Lincoln Nebraska home of diabetes poisoning. He learned the drug trade in Ashton then ran a Bladen Nebraska pharmacy before switching to banking. He served Webster County in the Nebraska state legislature in 1899 and was a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen. He leaves wife Gertrude Wheeler and two children Grace and Clifford.
