Ditching machine started Tuesday morning with contractor W. G. Hoy leading about a dozen workers. Well reached 90 feet with rock at 67 feet, water found below. Open Quail and Prairie Chicken Seasons Listed

The report details hunting seasons opening yesterday November 11 for bobwhite quail and prairie chickens with end dates in November. It lists daily limits such as twelve quail and three prairie chickens, plus seasonal dates for squirrels snipes ducks geese and brant and bans on commercial killing and certain hunting methods.

Public Missionary Meeting at Salem Church

The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary society will hold its annual public meeting at Salem United Evangelical church next Sunday evening at 7 30 p m. Miss Hie Din Lin, a Chinese student in Chicago, will speak on Chinese customs and needs and her medical missionary plans. A missionary offering will be received. the public is invited.

Hoof and Mouth Disease at Paw Paw Reported

North Western workers are cleaning and fumigating stock yards in Paw Paw as hoof and mouth disease is found in Lee county cattle. Three carloads of cattle and 80 hogs were killed and buried to stamp out the outbreak.

Vincent Arnould and Ruby Paddock were wed Wednesday morning at the Washington Grove Christian parsonage with Rev. Fremont McCague officiating. The couple, after a short honeymoon to Madison Wisconsin, will reside in the remodeled Weishaar house near the railroad.

Go to Prayer Meeting Night Inaugurated By Methodists

A Go-to-Prayer-Meeting effort follows last year’s Go-to-Church-Sunday campaign which doubled attendance. Over three hundred Methodist churches join the movement with litera ture, committees, and pulpit appeals. The culmination is Thursday, November 12 at 7 pm in Ashton Methodist Church with special music. Also a note on new stock at Gazette Book Store featuring 50 cent titles.

Former Ashton Lady Eliza Andrews Dies in Rockford

Eliza Andrews aged 83 died last Wednesday night at her daughter’s Rockford home from old age. Born in Dryden New York she lived fifty years in Illinois including twenty with Ashton. Survived by daughter Mrs O H Andrews two great grandchildren and sister of the late Mrs Eri Bates. Funeral held Friday at 2 30 from the home. Burial in Ashton cemetery with Rev H M Bannen and Rev A E Ulrich officiating. Attending relatives listed from Rockford DeKalb Dixon and Dixon families.
