Republican sweep across six counties confirms strong midterm lead
In Tuesday’s election the Republican ticket swept all six counties led by Edwin S. Rosecrans for circuit clerk and Fred G. Dimick for county clerk. John C. McKenzie was re elected to Congress and Adam C. Cliffe won the 35th senate seat. Brew er, Leech and Devine also won in their races with broad GOP support. Apples from Bowser Fruit Co offered at 75 cents a bushel in Ashton.

Main Street Renamed Lincoln Way to Accept Fountain Plan

Mrs. Rebecca Stoner Hartzell died at 88 after a life of service. Born October 25, 1825, she married Augustus Hartzell in 1852. Survived by son William Hartzell and eight grandchildren, funeral held at John Howard home in Franklin Grove with Rev. Ulrich officiating.
