Emily Phideliah McMaster Quick longtime Ogle County settler died at 89 years 9 months in Ashton Illinois after a long illness. She and her husband James Quick lived in Rockville Lafayette and Ashton towns. Survived by daughter Helen M son Will nine grandchildren and many friends. Funeral held at home conducted by Rev James A Foard with interment in Ashton cemetery. ARD OF THANKS notes thanks for kindness and floral tributes.

The school closes another year with strong vaccination protection against small pox. The Senior play set for Tuesday June sixth with tickets on sale June 3 and an orchestra and glee club concert planned for next week.

Rev and Mrs James A Foard were honored when 27 former Grace Joliet parishioners attended the morning service at Ashton Methodist. They toured the parsonage and enjoyed a scramble dinner before returning home after an 80 mile trip in five autos supervised by hosts Mr and Mrs Joseph Cousins and Mr and Mrs Frank Ghilain.

About a thousand people led by the Fortton Band attended the opening day sale of lots in Costello Heights. A heavy afternoon rain dispersed many onlookers but the sale continued, with over 2600 dollars in lots disposed of and Oscar Schade purchasing multiple blocks.

Four Paving Bids Placed For North Town Blocks
Four proposals were submitted Tuesday morning for sixteen blocks of paving in the north part of town. Bids ranged from 43 587 00 by A B Rutledge of Rockford to 80 022 80 by Cameron Joyce and Co of Keokuk. The Board of Local Improvements reviewed the bids and consulted with their attorney over irregularities in two bids.
