Fourth Annual Lee Co W C T U Institute Held in Wheaton
The Lee County W C T U will hold its fourth annual institute at the Methodist Episcopal church in Wheaton on May 27 and 28 led by Miss Louis Hollister and Miss Carrie Musser. The program includes county meetings, devotional periods, papers on training citizens and temperance work, and a medal contest. Obituary notes Miss Carrie Bowen of Metamora, Ill., who died May 13, 1907, with a life spent aiding her family and church work, funeral in Wheaton and burial in Chenoa. She leaves nephews and a sister.

Milk Maid Convention Draws Large Crowd at Franklin Grove
The Milk Maid's Convention held in the opera house Friday evening drew a large crowd. Proceeds were shared between Endeavor societies of Franklin Grove and nearby towns. The entertainment included white dressed performers with pink and blue aprons, pretty drills, and sold lunches in small milk pails. Attendees left pleased. Also noted: subscription list growth with several local names added. Jamestown Exposition offers low North Western Line rates to New York and other destinations with Chicago connections.

Program now arranged for Memorial Day events
The Ashton Band will make its first street appearance as part of the Memorial Day exercises. C. K. Northrup is named marshal of the day and old soldiers from the Spanish American War will gather at the town hall at 1 30 p m to elect a captain. The band will assemble at Second and North and march west to West then north to Main and west to the school campus.

Unknown Dead Prayer Service Lead By Local Band
The prayer for the unknown dead will be offered as a band takes position at the old department of yard entrance. The flower brigade, escorted by the old Soldiers, will march to each grave and circle it with one squad at each site. They will decorate the drum tops, then form a column and march back to town breaking ranks before the post office led by C. K. Norrarvo, Marshall of the Day.

Large Crowds Attend Ashton Township Sunday School Session
Large crowds filled the Ashton Township Sunday School Association meeting held at the Methodist Episcopal church. Miss Emma Schuster spoke on The Sunday School Its Place Purpose and Organization and traced early American roots. Dr. Cheadle led discussion and Miss Charlotte Trostle spoke on Discipline and class management. Evening at Presbyterian church featured Prof. W. R. McKnight on Scholars Attendance and Home Study. Juniors Entertain Seniors at Ashton High School Dance
The Ashton High School Junior Class hosted the Senior Class at the Methodist parsonage Friday. Teachers W R McKnight and Eva Noelsch attended. decorations matched school colors pink green and white. Leo Newcomer won first in authors guessing. Emma ibenthal took consolation prize before ice cream refreshments.
