Printer Kicked From Freight Train Near Town
E. O. Coburn was kicked off a freight train about a mile east of town last Wednesday morning. He suffered cuts to the head and face after landing on ballast, walked to Ashton, and was cared for by C. S. Kron. Dr. Sheldon treated him and provided clothes, while E. S. Rosecrans supplied shoes. Coburn, a printer by trade, later resumed work at the Gazette and departed to continue his touring printer career.

Kersten Builds 10000Bushel Grain Elevator on Farm
Hartman M. Kersten lays a concrete foundation for a grain elevator on his farm near William Wolford. The structure measures 22 by 26 feet and will hold about 10 000 bushels. A side track from the electric line in his yard has allowed grain purchases since the line’s construction.

Philatheas May Party Brightens Church Parlor Event
The Philatheas held a May meeting in church parlors for classes 7 and 8 inviting guests. The room smelled of lilacs with violet letters and a left handed register showing seven names. Contests included standing broad grin 30 inch dash heavy weight throw shot put and relay. A post office station issued numbers for parcel packages while refreshments and songs closed the jovial gathering.

Autos Collide at Dixon Junction injures five
A Rock Falls party in a new Ford crashes into Frank Hart’s Buick at the Chicago and Franklin Grove roads edge of Dixon. Mrs. E J Pierce suffers a broken collar bone while a three year old child is thrown into Hart’s lap and unharmed. The Ford, unlicensed, swerved and struck a telegraph pole. all injured were later sent home.

The New School will open September 1 in Dixon with a new law college organized by J. W. Watts. A 25 year head of the Dixon College of Law, Watts has trained 2500 lawyers and many northwest practitioners. He is joined by Martin Gannon Jr., Charles Creighton, James Kelley, and John Buckley in forming the J. W. Watts College of Law. A. J.
