Lee County Sunday School Holds 51st Convention at Compton
The 51st annual Lee County Sunday School Association convention will meet at Compton on May 10 and 11 with the theme Community Efficiency. Key speakers include C. E. Schenck of Chicago and Miss Wilhelmina Stocker of Chicago, state elementary superintendent, as committees organize receptions, registration, entertainment, finance and publicity and a two day program features lectures, Bible studies, and parallel conferences for elementary, teen age and adult groups.

Alumni Plan Reception For Class Of 1917 At Ashton High
Ashton High School alumni meeting outlined a reception for the class of 1917 with committees for reception refreshments decorations and invitations. Dues enforcement required for admission and a May 14 business meeting was scheduled. A 35 person party hosted by Miss Kathryn Nelson featured purple and yellow decor and a 17 candle cake. Shriners attended Tebela Temple spring ceremonial in Rockford with two Ashton novices. A church reception for the new pastor Manshardt was announced at the Presbyterian church Friday evening.

Boy Scout Troupe Organized Here In Ashton
A Boy Scout troupe was organized in Ashton with 14 boys enrolled. A council of four men will advise the movement including Ralph Dean J C Griffith Faust Clifford Knapp Dr M L E and Prof O A Fackler. Harry Iman to serve as assistant Scout Master. Scouts will wear uniforms at Memorial Day events with cost shared by the troupe and held in trust by a committee if a boy moves away.

May fifth marks the High School baseball team facing Rochelle High School in Rochelle in their first eastward tour. Ashton High School’s library hours stretch include Wednesdays and Fridays after four. Ashton’s baseball squad defeated South Dixon 18 to 3 at Dixon. May Day fete postponed to May 8 on the school lawn at eight. Seniors wrap up American History and move to American Government. New clock greets library patrons. Eighth grade social at Raymond Hart’s home features red, white and blue decor and a luncheon. Rev F W Doede named pastor of Ashton and Reynolds Evangelical churches by the conference.

The 100th anniversary of the Sunday School movement will be celebrated at Ashton Methodist with a 9 30 a m program led by a 35 voice chorus.
