Dress Making Shop Opening Planned Near Miss Tyler Room
Kathryn Nelson announces a new dress making shop set to open around May 1 in the room recently vacated by Miss Maude Tyler. A Memorial Day planning meeting is scheduled at Town Hall Friday night April 27 at 8:00 p.m., led by N A Petrie, president. Doings of the High School May Day Activities Update
The Manual Training class filled bird box orders this spring. Amelia Hann earned a two year teaching certificate. A sewing machine for domestic arts arrived. Ashton High beat South Dixon 18 to 2 after a 8 to 9 loss to Franklin Grove. Four juniors heard Miss Hobart tease the idea of a Ladies Aid. Students attended a Dixon matinee of Intolerance and a local ball game. A May Fete is planned on May 1 with wand and flag drills, May pole, and crowning of the May Queen. a silver collection will cover expenses.

Shabbona Dog Eats Money Believed From Fred Hall
Shabbona resident Fred Hall reported his high bred dog Schulte swallowed a large amount of silver coins. Vets confirmed a 50 cent piece in the stomach after X ray at DeKalb. The incident followed a claim of several hundred dollars in silver taken recently.

Brother in Law Ashton Dilcher Dies After Long Illness
Funeral held last Tuesday at the Evangelical church in Dysart for Milton Dilcher 47 of Dysart Iowa who died last Saturday after a six week battle with a nervous breakdown and paralysis. Survived by Lena Schafer his wife four children and multiple siblings. Relatives from Iowa Minnesota and Illinois attended. Interment in Dysart cemetery.

Woodmen Promise Pay To Enlisted Workers
The Modern Woodmen of America board in Rock Island adopted a resolution assuring head office and printing department employees that enlisting in the U S Army or Navy will not cut their pay. The society will cover the difference between military pay and Woodmen wages for those with dependents needing care, to encourage enlistment and show patriotism.
