A memorial service for Corporal Chrystal Witzel was held at St. John's Lutheran church after word of his death in France. The obituary honors his 27 years and notes his service with the 78th Division and 310th Infantry, with messages from his chaplain and family.
A large gathering attended the funeral Tuesday for George Geyer born July 7 1847 in Gru Weisenstadt Germany. He immigrated 1865 with Marie Magdalena Bittner farmedBradford and Reynolds townships later joining United Evangelical Church at Ashton. Interred Reynolds Cemetery aged 76 years 7 months 24 days. He married twice first to Bittner then Susan Ramstein. He leaves 25 grandchildren and several children. The notice includes church services for St John’s Lutheran English services next Sunday and United Evangelical Church events in Bradford and Ashton with revival meetings ongoing.
Epworth League at six o'clock will be led by Mr. A. W. Rosecrans with the topic Our Relation to God-Serving. Harry Cluts has been promoted to section foreman and station at Rochelle with the Chicago and North Western Railway. He will continue to reside in this city.
A church invites attendance for three weeks starting Sunday March 9 with two services. Morning service at 10 30 will feature Mr and Mrs Preston leading singing and solo and duet performances praised as peerless. Sunday School meets at 9 30 and aims to reach 200 in attendance.
Pastor W E Kern invites the public to join senior and junior choirs in a series of religious meetings starting Sunday morning. The week features daily themes such as Complete Satisfaction and The Living Water with services at 7 30 pm on weekdays and 7 00 pm Sunday. Young people in the vicinity especially those in High School are urged to attend and bring friends.

Marriage news reports George Yocum to Anna Davison of Priscilla Florida with the couple to reside on a Franklin Grove farm. Winter continues with a six inch snowstorm on Tuesday.
Rockford Misses Violet Snyder and Mabel Meister visited Ashton High School with Luella Meister. The column recalls English and Latin class antics, a scolding by Miss Hobart, jokes about primus and lex, and a note on a garden seed package distribution by Mr. Fackler. Gazette price listed.
At the administrator sale yesterday afternoon the late Conrad Kliebe estate fetched Dollar values with the meat market fixtures selling to William B. McCrea for 925 dollars and the ice house bringing 150 dollars. McCrea plans a cash basis market, having prior grocery experience. he will take possession Thursday morning. A separate sale of horses vehicles and other items drew a large crowd. Church meetings concluded Sunday with many conversions and a noted life-changing influence observed in the community. The sermon and Sabbath school work were highlighted by Morris's ministry. Mr and Mrs Albert Webster of Aurora will work the coming season for Edison Vogel.
