Ashton Chautauqua Opens With Music and Lectures
The Ashton Community Chautauqua reports fine weather and rising attendance led by Junior Chautauqua with 75 children each morning. The opening Sunday featured a union church service, the Mrs. Wilbur Starr Concert Company, eloquent lecture by Robert Parker Miles on Tallow Dips, and performances by Hann's Jubilee Singers and Andre Tridon. Through Monday and Tuesday the program showcased Emerson Winters, J. Franklin Caveny, and Albert Edward Wiggam, with band day and Handel choir to conclude Thursday led by Mme Wagner Shank.

G A Ulrich a Lee Center well driller struck a flowing artesian well Monday on William Ewalds farm just south of Reynolds cemetery. The shallow 57 foot bore gushed six feet two inches above ground with an estimated flow near 25 gallons per minute. The supply will provide stock water without a pump or windmill.
