W D Hartzell will supervise a 24 mile road parallel to the Northwestern railroad to the town line near Franklin Grove for two years using a road drag. Charles Hunter assists on the grader drawn by a 25 horsepower tractor owned by S T Zeller and Son. The project aims for crowned drainage and faster completion by week’s end despite tree roots. A tourist damaged a tractor during the process but resumed travel after minor repairs.

Ashton Excursion to Starved Rock Planned by Auto Club
An Ashton automobile excursion to Starved Rock will depart at six this morning with 15 to 18 cars carrying about 100 people. The route goes via Mendota and La Salle to Deer Park for a picnic dinner and returns via Ottawa. Mr and Mrs Martin Hewert visited Dixon yesterday.
