Class No. 6 of the Methodist Sunday school took a motor trip to Starved Rock with 96 men in twenty cars. The outing featured lunch at the park hotel, canyon and river visits, and several aquatic stunts. Notable park upgrades include a new auditorium, fireproof garage, enlarged hotel, marble shower, and a modern sewer water system.

Illinois Northern Utilities reports 210 miles of transmission in the district and 68 lines under construction from Freeport to Mendota with connections Sterling Dixon and Sterling to Prophetstown Erie Morrison Tampico. The utility serves 39 towns with 65 000 residents, holds 17 renewals from 20 to 50 years and 22 street lighting contracts. In 18 months horsepower load rose 4550 units as the district grows. It supplies gas to 10 000 and 10 000 electricity users.

A joint memorial service was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by Ashton Lodge No. 977 T. O. C. F. and Ashton Lodge No. 497 D. of R. in the Odd Fellows Hall. The hall was filled with members and friends. Music by the Rebekah Quartet Misses Lena and Clara Bode Amanda Vaupel Ada Moore opened with Jesus Savior Pilot Me. Mrs Lara Dugdale as Noble Grand spoke on the grand lodge call.

Miss Laila Quick, Cornell College graduate, will teach at Dixon High School. Kendall Jonker broke his right arm Friday. a doctor set the bone and he recovers. Kathryn Bremmer returned from Erie where she sang in a church. Mrs C E Lee and twin babies left for Chicago after visiting at Mrs Georges Eisenbergs home, joined by sister Mrs F B Wood. Mrs Mary Hurd and daughter Ruth visited LaCrosse. Rev Alexander English spoke in Clarence Iowa about The Religious Side of Odd Fellowship. The English addressed the group. a quartet sang Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken. The service ended with a cemetery ceremony by Noble Grand Mrs Lara Dugdal and Chaplain Mrs Alice Hann. nine graves for two lodges decorated with flowers.
