Ashton High School Class Day Acknowledges Brilliant Program
Thirteen graduates presented a fine class day program at the Ashton High School opera house last Wednesday. Ada Kersten, Otis Walter, and Vernon Shippee delivered notable orations. Ellen Griffith, Cecil Knapp, and Mary Lesslie performed as a trio, with Miss Lucile Randall singing solo. The audience filled the house and praised the efforts of all participants.

Corner Stone Laying Set for Public School Building
A large ceremony is planned for the corner stone laying of the new public school building next Wednesday at 2 PM with Most Worshipful Bro Delmar D Darrah Grand Master of Masons of Illinois presiding. The program includes a band concert at 1 PM, Grand Master escort, and an address by E T Bailey of Friendship Lodge No 1 Dixon Illinois followed by a ball game and evening concert. business houses to close 1 PM to 4 PM for the event.

High School Class Receives Diplomas In Music Recital
Miss Guenn Godard directed the program with Miss Nellie Zeller at piano and Mr. Car Bode on violin. Prof. B. A. Streeter praised the class four years of study and the board awarded diplomas. The finale featured a bass solo by Mr. C. W. Jonker and Rev. Alfred E. Simister gave the benediction.

Seventh Alumni Banquet Brings School Pride and Debut of Officers
The seventh annual Alumni reception at the opera house drew about ten attendees with guests. An honorary program featured Miss Ruth Zeller and solos by Mrs. G. W. Barr and Mrs. Pearl Billmire. Rae Chadwick welcomed the Class of 1913, Ada Kersten spoke, Supt. Streeter recalled past classes, and Rev. Simester joined in. Refreshments followed. officers for the year were elected: Roland P. Eisenberg president, Pearl Billmire vice president, Kathryn Griffith secretary, Raymond Pyatt treasurer.

Merry-Go-Round Here At Bates Lot
Maronde and Buck Brothers bring a new merry-go-round with up-to-date music inviting old folks and young people to enjoy. Located on Bates lot in the east part of town. The first Alumni banquet of Franklin Grove High School was held last Saturday in the school hall. The hall was packed, reflecting strong alumni interest since 1880 when 176 graduates have been noted. Attenders from here included Mr and Mrs Clifford Knapp, Miss Lu Vella Attig, Mr Will Klingebiel, and Mr and Mrs George Stephan.

Rochelle Bride Weds Ito A Oetzel At Home Ceremony
The marriage of Fannie Rea Blackman to Ito A. Oetzel took place at the bride's parents home on Sixth Street with Rev. A. Perry officiating. The couple, now residing on Ninth Street, will honeymoon east before settling in Rochelle. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Wilmot Blackman, is a DeKalb Normal School graduate and former teacher. The groom, a prominent local figure, is connected with W B Hueter’s store. An ordinance on merry-go-rounds and ocean-waves appears in the edition, along with notices of Children’s Day events at the Methodist church and various local items.

Aurora Youth Held On Serious Charge
Ida Haenitch, 21, daughter of Augustus Haenitch, was attacked by Eugene Phillips of Aurora while camping near the Haenitch farm. Phillips, about 19, was arrested and held on bond after a preliminary hearing, waived examination, and sent to the grand jury. Also noted are 1913 14 hunting licenses and a school board lumber sale scheduled for June 14 at 2 pm behind the Gazette office.
