Address by Rev Stockwell Honors Civil War Veterans
Rev Cyrus Kellogg Stockwell national chaplain of the Sons of Veterans spoke to over a thousand in Sycamore area. The gathering featured a Woodmen band march, prayer by Rev Alfred E Simester, quartet performance and remarks on patriotism and sacrifice. He recalled Civil War service, the flag’s meaning, and national heritage as the crowd listened on a sunny day with businesses closed. Continued on Page 4.

Harry Quick Weds Edna Jackson in DeKalb Ceremony
Harry L. Quick son of Mr and Mrs T H Quick of this city wed Miss Edna Jackson of DeKalb at the bride's mother's home on Decoration day. The 9:30 am ceremony was followed by a four course breakfast and a motor for a wedding tour through Chicago Washington D C Norfolk and other stops before returning home July 1. Quick is a bookkeeper with Melville Clark Piano Co and his bride is a trained nurse. Congratulations from Ashton friends.

Local dealer receives fourth car load of Ford vehicles
Clifford Knapp the Ford dealer received his fourth car load of Ford cars Tuesday morning bringing his season total to 26. After the last delivery his stock dwindled to one car. He also sold a Buick model to Charles Kelley and delivered a Ford touring car to J Griffith and a Buick five passenger car to Willard Knapp during the week.

Eighth Grade Fares Well With Annual Program
The fifth annual promotion exercises of the public school eighth grade were held Monday evening in an open-house setting. Seventeen students presented a program of songs recitations and readings to a large audience. Superintendent L. W. Miller presented diplomas and urged pupils to continue to high school.

Emma H. Boyd Dies at 57 in Amboy Hospital
Mrs. Emma Halsey Boyd, mother of Faust H. Boyd of this city, died Saturday at Amboy hospital from diabetes and ganerene at age 57 years seven months four days. Born October 27 1845 in Lima Indiana, she married Hiram Boyd of Ohio in 1852 and he died December 5 1892. Survived by son Faust H. Boyd, she was a Presbyterian and was buried in Ashton Cemetery with Rev George A Walter presiding.

Pine Rock Pioneer Spencer Tilton Dead at 90
Spencer Tilton longtime Ogle county settler died at his home seven miles north of the city last Thursday aged 90 years four months and 29 days. Born January 1 1822 in Virginia Ohio he married Amy Hardesty in April 1845 and moved to Illinois in 1846. Survived by five sons 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. funeral Sunday at 11 am at Washington Grove Christian church Elder S J Lindsay officiating. Interment Washington Grove cemetery.

Car Turns Turtle Injuring Wolford and Kesselring
William Wolford suffered serious internal injuries when his Ford rolled over near Tony Reitz farm as he tried to turn from a dirt road onto the main road. Kesselring was trapped beneath the vehicle, others escaped unharmed. Wolford's condition improving with care. He returned home five miles south on the Kersten farm by Monday.
