Ashton picnic draws 1800 to Hunt's Grove in grand success
Ashton's first community picnic at Hunt's grove attracted about 1800 people. The event used all modes of transport with 197 cars and 85 surveys plus 65 buggies. Ashton and Lafayette bands opened a lively day of contests with $125 in prizes as contestants competed in timed events.

Eighth Grade Graduation at Ashton Public School
The eighth grade graduation exercises in Ashton Public School were held in the high school auditorium with a strong turnout and notable music and recitations. Principal John Absher received praise for six years of leadership and efforts that increased high school continuation rates, and a geography exhibit highlights his work. Ashton voters backed Judge Cartwright in the judicial election with heavy margins as Cartwright carried Lee county and the twelve-county district. Frank Hart now drives a new Buick touring car.

Eliza Ann Drummond born Vigo County Indiana October 28 1836 died June 12 1915 in Dixon Illinois aged about 79. She married Lewis Drummond March 25 1856 and lived much of her life in Ogle County with time in Dixon. Funeral 10 am Friday from 1724 West Third Dixon and services at Washington Grove Church with interment in Washington Grove cemetery.

Class No. 6 from Ashton will motor to Dixon Sunday morning to meet Mr Ahrens class of men at the Methodist church. Dixon expects 400 men with an orchestra opening the session. Mr Rosecrans plans to bring 150 men. the event could be the largest Bible class outside Chicago.
