Funeral tribute recalls S T Zeller memory and life

The large Genoa area gathering attends the Sterling funeral for Samuel T. Zeller born June 5 1853 died May 27 1917 aged 63. A W Rosecrans delivers a heartfelt tribute citing Exodus 3311 and highlighting Zeller as a friend educator churchman and businessman with a family of five children and ties to Ashton Harmon Genoa and Sterling. The service at the home was followed by a train trip to Riverside Cemetery with Masonic and Knights Templar involvement and distant relatives in attendance.

Methodist Children Day Program and District Chautauqua Notice

Junior Chautauqua to Feature Childrens Work and Pageant

The Junior Chautauqua will be a major Assembly feature this summer. A supervising med will open with a detailed outline, followed by a 9 30 story hour for children. The schedule includes Camp Fire stories Favorite Stories of My Lands and Japanese Fairy Folk Tales, with a final Night at the Fairy Carnival pageant. Afternoon activities add more stories and games. Youth season tickets grant access to both the main program and children’s activities, and earners may receive a special badge.

Ashton Camp No. 48 Modern Woodmen of America to hold June meeting Monday evening with at least four candidates for adoption. Refreshments will be served and a strong member turnout is urged.

Memorial Day Observance Marred by Rain in Rochelle

Memorial day services were moved indoors due to steady rain. Rev F W Landner delivered a brief address at the high school auditorium while Rev Ernest Wray Oneal could not attend because of his wife's illness. The program included prayers by Rev Fred A Graham and Rev W H Manshardt, with the roll of honor read by Otto Schade and hymn singing by a quartet. Cemetery ceremonies were scaled back with flowers laid by the Dey Lewis Wood marshal and veterans graves decorated. Prof O A Fackler visited Rochelle Saturday.
