Ashton Holds Largest Soldier Monument Dedication Day
The Ashton community marked a historic day with the unveiling of a Barre granite soldiers monument donated by S. F. Mills and N. A. Petrie. About 500 autos and an estimated 4000 people attended the ceremonies with a Lafayette band march and a roll of honor for 41 deceased veterans. Judge Richard S. Farrand of Dixon spoke on Civil War heroism while Dixon Post, G.A.R. No. 299, led the dedication.

Settler Carl Krug Dies at 82 in Dixon Illinois
Carl Krug an early Bradford township settler died at his daughter's home in Dixon on Thursday evening aged 82. He came from Reichensachsen Germany in 1853 and settled in Bradford. He married Elizabeth Gonnermann on July 4 1858 and had five children. Funeral was at United Evangelical church in Bradford with Rev Joseph Eller. The obituary notes his faithful church service and community standing.
