Fifty Year Lee County Sunday School Convention Opens
The fiftieth annual convention of the Lee County Sunday School Association gathered in the city with large attendance from across the county. Tuesday night’s large Methodist Church session featured a 60-voice chorus under Mrs K E Goodsell and an 11 piece Presbyterian orchestra along with solos and a jubilee sermonette by Rev R L MacWherter and a final address by Hugh Cork of Wheaton on the value of county and state associations to local schools.

Civics studies Illinois and a 1916 College book arrived, with thanks to Oliver Eisenberg and Amelia Hann for year books. Teachers praise scientific material, and students review Victoria and Edward VII. A humorous exchange and class poems appear, with sports notes on Compton’s ball game May 30. Merchants executive committee meeting at city hall decided the community picnic will be held on Wednesday June 14 due to school closing dates.
