Also mourning George Schafer Sr a lifelong Ashton resident who died at age about 89 90 after a long life as a German immigrant and church leader with 9 children 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the United Evangelical church.

Austin M Bates 48 died at his home 411 South Seventh DeKalb Tuesday evening after a brief illness. He was born June 26 1867 in Ashton and married Belle A Mott November 24 1891. Survived by wife three children Ray Bernice Frey two brothers W H Bates James Bates. Funeral by Masonic Fraternity. Service at 12 45 noon.
