John Roat 72 died suddenly Tuesday morning at Amboy from a stroke while helping at Louis Pohl’s meat market. Born September 1, 1843 in Oregon he lived in Ashton 1867 to run a harness business, served on village and school boards, moved to Amboy twenty years ago and retired. Survived by wife Eliza Williams, four children William, George, Mrs. A J Orner, and Mary Roat. Funeral today at 2:30 pm from the late Amboy home, conducted by Rev. Appelman.
