Sneak Thieves Loot Five City Stores Early Thursday
A light snow blanketed the city as five stores were burglarized early Thursday, about two hundred dollars in property stolen. Two men are suspected. meanwhile extensive theft included McCreas grocery and J A Roeslers, with coins, cigars, and small valuables taken.

January Open Month Brings Winter Weather to Ashton
Weather observer Ira George reports January as an open month with fluctuating temps from four to ten degrees below zero early in the month. The coldest day was the 26th at seven degrees below zero, with two thunderstorms and minimal snow totaling one foot. Precipitation reached 4.13 inches, winds from the west, ground frozen hard, roads smoother after cold snap.

Mrs Smith Anderson Called Beyond
Anna Eliza Byce was born in Lower Canada on September 3 1829 and died in Rochelle February 17 1907 at 77.4.28. She married A Smith Anderson July 37 1855, who died January 24 1888. Surviving are Herbert B Anderson of Rochelle two sons twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She joined the Methodist Church early and lived in Rochelle until illness after a late fire. Funeral Monday at eleven, Rev J X Hamilton officiating. Interment Ashton Cemetery.

Lent Season Starts Early This Year in Ashton

Two couples wed in a six oclock ceremony at Hartman F Kersten residence. Miss Emma Kersten and Justus Hennert plus Miss Minnie Hennert and Arthur Kersten wore matching gowns of taffeta silk and carried red and white bouquets. Receptions followed with oysters at midnight. Star Added to the Flag as Fourteen States Grow
Oklahoma will gain a star on July 4 next year when statehood is formalized adding forty six stars to the flag. The Navy and War Departments agree on a 46 star pattern with four rows of eight and two rows of seven to accommodate future territories and two more states.
