A large turnout for the Ashton Gun Club shooting tournament drew participants from Ashton and nearby towns including Chicago. Morning events featured the sixty third for pros and semi pros with strong scores. afternoon prizes consisted of sixty turkeys geese and ducks. Local interest centered on the awards and Christmas dinners.

News of the City Tells of Local Health and Church Events
A. W. Rosecrans has been ill with grip. Rev. R. L. MacWherter taught his Bible class Sunday. John Dale, two and a half, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Dale, was sick with pneumonia but improved after care from several physicians and a nurse. The Ashton Evangelical church third quarterly conference begins Friday with services in English and German over the weekend. Rev. J. Ciaectl of Freeport presides. Fred Richardson and Dr. S. C. Gould returned home to close territory for Form-A-Truck, with the company two to three weeks behind on orders. The Ashton Camp No. 48 Modern Woodmen of America issued a $2,000 benefit fund order to Mark Burnham, honoring his late father John M. Burnham’s 23 years of membership. A Sunday school committee from Methodist groups attended the teen-age Dixon conference, with girls led by Miss Miriam Rosecrans and Miss Mary Lesslie, and boys by George Graham and Ernest Kersten, amid illness delaying M. B. Griffith. Rev. Graham accompanied the committee. Miss Rosecrans and Mr. Kersten spoke at the meetings.

Boy Hurt When Horse Foots Neck At Rochelle Barn
Clarence Craig twelve son of Mrs Anna Craig suffered critical injuries Monday afternoon after a horse stepped on his neck during barn play. The corked shoe cut his ear, neck muscle torn, with spine and leg injuries. He was moved to Chand ler hospital Rochelle for care. Also note New Year's reception planned by Ashton Methodist church invites members and friends for a evening of music games and contests.

Pool Tournament at Walter's Pool Room Ends in Margin Win
The pool match last Thursday between players from Charles Pfeiffer and John Wal at Walter's pool room ended with a 40 point margin and drew a large crowd.
