The largest Ash ton social gathering Friday evening followed a Sunday school class No 6 banquet taught by A W Rosecrans at the Methodist Episcopal church. 136 members and guests enjoyed a decorated basement feast with music by A W Rosecrans and a Victrola program.

The Ashton Chapter 575 Order of the Eastern Star installed officers for 1916 including Nellie Zeller Worthy Matron Roy Jeter Worthy Patron and several trustees and staff. Christmas Entertainment and Mission Offering at Ashton Presby
The Sunday School Christmas event is set for Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Ashton Presbyterian church with a warm welcome extended. A Christmas sermon will be held next Sabbath morning and parishioners will collect offerings for Foreign Missions. Rev. R. L. MacWherter is away from home, staying with Mr and Mrs David Bill mire. Contributions for Olivet Mission clothing should be sent to the church promptly to ship the barrel.

Ashton to vote on new sewer system plan at town hall
The Board of Local Improvements approved a sewer project for Ashton with an estimated cost of 32500 dollars. A December 30 hearing was set at the town hall to consider the improvement and notices will be mailed. Many water customers favor tying into city mains to avoid septic tanks.
