Farmers Institute displays good shows at Amboy gathered crowds
The annual Lee County Farmers Institute met in Amboy with forecasts of a next meeting at Compton or Franklin Grove. Abraham Ackert of Dixon was re elected president. J S Hartnell served as secretary and treasurer. Frank H Hall of Aurora spoke on dairying and animal care while J H Martin of Morrison led corn judging and manure studies.

Randall Dies Thursday Resident of Ashton Passes
Lyman C. Randall, longtime Ashton resident and early village settler, died Thursday at 10 o clock after a brief illness of pleuro pneumonia. Born September 18 1834 in New York, he was 71 years 3 months and 3 days old. He married Lurina Rowbridge in 1858. they had three children Henry A Sabin and Sadie L all surviving, Lurina died in 1869. Burial will be at Ashton with Rev Brown of Oregon officiating.

Randall Family Long Residency Ends In Ashton
An obituary notes Mr Randall who lived in Ashton for many years engaged in hotel grain and dry goods ventures since 1867. Funeral services were held at his residence led by Rev Geo Brown of Oregon with burial in Ashton Cemetery alongside his wife, children, grandchildren, and brother John Randall.

University examiner visits Ashton school in Champlain
Prof H A Hollister of University of Illinois, examiner for high schools, visited Ashton last Wednesday. He praised the work, noted good textbooks and library books, and commended Mr Price for maintaining an organized course. He hinted Ashton may be placed on the University credited list pending council action.

It Took His Breath Fine Fur Coat Surprise
Rev Hamilton stood speechless as Miss Pearle Thompson placed a fur coat on him and Nora Shippee wrapped a fur scarf around Mrs Hamilton at the parsonage after Sabbath services. Banquet Celebrates Sunday School Class Success
Mr A W Rosecrans hosted a Sunday School class banquet at the New Commercial Hotel with 32 men at four tables. Rev J R Hamilton served as toastmaster, speeches extolled finishing a man through Sunday School, and guests ended the evening with cheering. Chas Grove of Rochelle was in town earlier in the week.
