Miss Melissa Jane Buck long time Ashton resident dies at 61 after brief pneumonia illness. Born Center County Pennsylvania 1844 she moved to Ashton in 1857 and joined Methodist Church in 1897. Funeral held December 17 from her home with Pastor J R Hamilton officiating. Burial in Ashton Cemetery.

Reynolds Evangelical Church Holds Final Quarter Meeting
The Reynolds Evangelical church held its third quarterly meeting December 15 to 17 with Presiding Elder W A Shutte of Freeport in attendance. Shutte preached six times and urged youths to choose their vocation and move forward with revival spirit. A Christmas gift of 10.90, plus an extra ten cents from a child, symbolized local affection as Shutte nears the end of four years as presiding elder.

Ice House Burns Near town in Thursday Fire
Schade's Ice House burned to the ground about 1 30 p m after grass burning around the premises. The fire company arrived quickly a half mile away but the building was nearly consumed. A large quantity of sawdust was saved. A contract was let with Mark Burnham to build a new 32 by 40 foot ice house at once.
