Franklin Grove mourns as Esther Runyan dies at home aged 71 11 months and hours later undertaker Harry N. Bratton collapses while preparing her body. Both deaths occur within the same residence area casting a somber shadow over the community. Runyan was long-time resident with sister Elizabeth. Funeral announced for Emma Tilton Friday at 9 30 am with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Tilton, 73, longtime Lafayette township resident and Ashton farmer, died Tuesday evening after long illness.

Rail service expands with two section No. 19 run
The Chicago and North Western announces No. 19 will operate in two sections beginning Monday. The first section will pass Ashton at 12 42 p m as a solid mail and express train from Chicago to Omaha with five express cars a mail car and more cars to be added. The second section includes baggage chair and sleeper cars for Los Angeles Denver Portland and Boone Iowa with a dining car to Boone. No 26 will run east bound in two sections from Carroll Town to Chicago. No date set to restore Nos 10 and 18 after last summer’s strike.

Revival Meetings At Reynolds Church Continue Two Weeks

Hartzell Market Burglary in Dixon
The Hartzell meat market in Dixon was burglarized Sunday evening between 5 and 7 PM. The safe was opened and about 200 dollars in bills and checks stolen. Entry gained via a rear window and exit through a back door left open by the time police arrived at 7 PM. A burglar tool fragment was found and four suspicious men seen near the shop earlier.
