High Finance by Forgery Route Nets Loose Checks in Towns

Edward Davis in a sailor suit forged the name of his employer Charles Hunt to cash a $20.50 check in Ashton and a $75 check in Franklin Grove, with each bank paying before discovery. Police and dealers tracked Davis to Ft. Atkinson, while Rochelle reports forged checks cashed by Charles Rodehaver and Charles Davis on Creston merchants, with amply documented fallout and arrests in progress.

City Urges Immediate Water and Sewer Connections

City officials urge all residents on streets to be paved to install water and sewer connections at once. If connections reach the curb, owners may complete the work as desired but street connections must be laid immediately before spring paving begins.

Death of Former Resident Mrs H E Walton

Mrs H E Walton died suddenly in Sibley on Tuesday from a cerebral hemorrhage. Born Amanda Mae Suter in 1866 in Ashton Illinois, she lived in Sibley since 1888 and ran a millinery shop. She leaves a husband two sisters three brothers and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be in Sibley Cemetery with Suter relatives in attendance. Methodist notes urge church activities and a Lay Electoral Conference delegate election.
