A traveling party promoting the Schickel motorcycle arrived in Ashton after a 1,425 mile trek in a ton‑plus prairie schooner on motorcycle wheels. The Gale family and Miss Mabel Vincent traveled from Connecticut, planning to ship the rig via Panama and continue up the U S coast after California expositions. The trip, begun June 1, faced rain and rough roads but hopes to showcase literature and the motor cycle.

Guy Linscott Injured in Motorcycle Accident Near Town
Guy Linscott was badly hurt when his motorcycle left the road on a Sunday morning near Fred Beach farm. He suffered a broken left collar bone and severe leg bruises after sliding 30 to 40 feet. Witness Charles Brown helped him into a buggy and he was taken to the Knapp grandparents’ home where a physician was summoned. He remains in considerable pain and will be out of work for some time.

The marked route begins in Chicago at Michigan Avenue and Jackson Boulevard, goes to Garfield Park and Geneva, follows the Lincoln Highway to Sterling, then the Rock River Valley Route to Tri Cities, Davenport, and Iowa City, finally turning southwest.

State Serups Tuition Rules for Recognized Dixon County Highs
The State Superintendent lists recognized high schools in Lee county for tuition under a new law allowing districts without high schools to send pupils to county recognized schools. Schools named include Dixon North Dixon Amboy Ashton Franklin Grove Paw Paw. Efforts aim to gain state recognition for a three year course at Lee Center and two year courses at Steward Comp ton Harmon West Brooklyn and Lee. A new 11 cent parcel post stamp, first of its denomination, was authorized by Postmaster General Burleson, dark green with Houdon bust profile of Benjamin Franklin to cover insurance and COD charges. local parcels of twelve or thirteen pounds and seven pound zones also carry 11 cents. Mrs John Oesterheld of Dixon visited Tuesday with her parents Dr and Mrs H A Bremmer.
