The village held its most hotly contested election with 439 votes cast, surpassing all prior records by 24. Voters approved the paying matter, influencing council seats with Krug Kersten and Attig elected. Village Clerk was re elected by a 45 vote majority, amid favorable weather and determined turnout.
The County Older Boys Conference in Dixon drew many attendees despite poor roads and seeding time. Godwin Conrad was elected president with John Buck as vice president. Hi-Y Clubs plan closing activities in May including a Bean Feed on April 27 across Franklin Grove Amboy Lee Center Palmyra Dixon and Ashton. Prof B B Johnson will speak and demonstrate Boys work strategies. The Lee County Y M C A Board meets April 28 at Ira Buck’s home with ministers and teachers invited. Conrad to Chicago for International cooperation on a stronger county program as work expands to seven towns and five high schools.

Dixon Telegram reports Sarah Elizabeth McKenney Huguet died at age 84 after a long illness. A lifelong Dixon resident, she was born January 12 in Lee County and was connected with local history and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survived by a daughter, granddaughter, sister, brother, and a step-daughter, services were held at her home and Oakwood Cemetery.

Reynolds Church announces no preaching Sunday as Pastor William Albrecht attends the annual conference session in Mendota. Regular services will be held on Sunday, April 50.
The I O F and Rebekah lodges announce a novelty party in their hall on Friday evening the 28th with door admission. Members and families are invited and refreshments will be served in the banquet hall. Mr and Mrs Frank P Oberg moved this week from the Commercial block to the Odd Fellows building suite on the second floor.

A Thursday blaze at the Charles Ewald farm destroyed the barn built about 25 years ago as hay mow fuel fed the fire. Livestock survived but contents burned. flames spread toward a corn crib on the Klud farm 40 rods away before being checked, while the house was saved with effort.
Ten year old Lloyd Ewald son of Henry Ewald of Reynolds town was seriously hurt last week after being thrown from a pony cart while driving home from school. He struck a post, suffered severe facial lacerations, and was taken to Rochelle hospital in serious condition.
Lee County Sunday School Association officers announce a County Council Meeting for Sunday afternoon April 23 at 2 30 in the upstairs parlor of St Pauls Lutheran Church Dixon located corner west of the post office. Agenda includes committee appointments for the County Convention in Franklin Grove May 23 24 and plans to finish the year’s work. Other Sunday School workers invited.
Saturday April 22 presents Wallace Ried in To Much Speed and Pollard in Loose Change. April 24 features Wilil Rogers Unwilling Hero with two reels of Sipty, while April 26 offers Smiling All the Way and a two reel comedy.
Judge John B. Crabtree schedules a May hearing on objections to the county assessment roll. Commissioner Mortimey N. Glenn mails notices to property owners about the assessment.
Liberty Bonds investors relieved by week long rise after two years of decline. Those who sold during sour mood suffered losses while buyers at 10 to 15 points below par now see profits as market turns. Also notes that Ladies Aid of Methodist Episcopal church meets Thursday at 3 PM with supplies to be brought and refreshments served at 5 40 PM. Presbyterian notes list April 2 services with Sunday School themed Higher Education and a sermon on What is A Christian, plus a 6 p.m. Christian Endeavor, a Thursday prayer service, and a Sunday School Convention on the last Sunday afternoon. Rochelle Post of the American Legion plans a large carnival from April 22 to 30 with DeKalb, Dixon, and Oregon nights and nightly vaudeville. a Ford will be given away on the final night. The notice also reports Mrs Catherine Krug’s hip fracture and local visits, with a stock payment meeting set for April 22 at Floyd A Schafer store.
A stranger died after being found between railroad tracks east of town on Saturday. He told officials his name was Harry Harkins and carried Chicago and hotel key pieces. The incident, possibly a fall or push from a freight train, remains unsolved with an inquest held in Rochelle.
