Lowden Announces Candidacy for Governor of Illinois
Col Frank O Lowden proclaims he will seek the Republican nomination for governor with W H Stead of Ottawa to run his campaign from Chicago. Headquarters will be in the Lumber Exchange Building, Cook county committee to supervise. He pledges a fair statewide campaign and independence from factional ties.

Mrs. Catherine Plantz Gibson 83 Dies in Lighthouse Ill
Catherine A Plantz Gibson born May 13 1832 in Montgomery County New York died April 14 1916 at Lighthouse Illinois aged 83 years 11 months 1 day. She married Austin Gibson March 25 1856 lived on a farm near Ashton then the family homestead. Six children four sons two daughters survive with seventeen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral at Lighthouse church April 16 conducted by Rev F K Rich with interment in Lighthouse cemetery.

Funeral Held For Jacob Wagner Sr In Dixon
Large congregation gathered at United Evangelical Church to pay respects to Jacob Wagner Sr born October 28 1840 in Reichensachsen Germany. He immigrated in 1855 later farming Bradford then settling Dixon with two marriages and twelve children. He died April 13 after long service to church and family, buried in Dixon.

Ashton Rebekah Lodge No 497 held a well attended event in the Odd Fellows hall with plain clothes and amusements. A village election Tuesday produced 184 total votes with 143 men and 41 women. results list Christ Kurth Herman Mall and Charles Tuck for Trustees and Ralph J Dean for Clerk with E J Randall for Police Magistrate.

New Time Card Out Sunday For Four Northwest Trains
The Gazette notes a new Sunday time card affecting four passenger trains in Ashton. No. 3 now departs Chicago at 11:20 p m and arrives Ashton at 1:55 a m, aiding theatre patrons. No. 25 now stops regularly with a 338 p m arrival in Chicago, departing at 6:10 p m. Minor changes shift No. 6 to 5 54 a m and No. 20 to 11 24 a m.

Bank Held Annual Meeting and New Director Elected
Farmers State Bank held its annual meeting with Hartman M. Kersten elected to fill the vacancy from W. C. Yenerich’s death. William G. Krug was elected president at the subsequent directors meeting. he had served as acting president since September. Undivided profits rose to 5000 dollars and a dividend was declared. Officers listed include Krug as president Sindlinger vice president Erven J. Yenerich cashier Wesley H. Yenerich assistant cashier. Directors: Krug Killmer Sindlinger Kersten and Erven J. Yenerich. Supervisors Heidenthal and Wagner attended a Dixon supervisors meeting. Mrs Ray Jennings and family visited hospital in Rochelle. Gazette 1 50 per year.
