Lafayette township saw a big Red Cross uptick as Mrs Arthur Dugdale turned in 55 memberships and a $35 24 donation during two Liberty Loan meetings. Names of new members include Tiltons Clemons Sudburys and Hardenstys among others. membership climbs to 783 with additional enrollments and a Belgium relief donation acknowledged by Edward J Williams Assistant Treasurer.

Funeral Held for William Batchelor Local Citizen
William Batchelor of Ashton died Monday morning at age 76 after a long illness. Born in Bedford England he came to the United States at twenty and farmed in Lyons New York before moving to Illinois and later Ashton. Survived by his wife Mary Farrow eleven children two stepchildren and a brother. Funeral conducted at his home and Methodist Episcopal church with Odd Fellows escort.

The village vote reached 193 with 17 women voting. Herman Mall was re elected and George W Schafer plus Lewis Wood won villages trustees while Charles Tuck lost. Ralph J Dean won village clerk.
