Juniors Entertain the Senior Glass

The junior class hosts the senior class at the high school reception on Friday April 12. A varied program includes piano and vocal solos select reading and a play Double Crossed. Proceeds from an old rubber sale raise twenty dollars to fund the Junior Red Cross once approved by the county.

County Sunday School Meeting Elected Chairman

At the Dixon board of supervisors meeting James Buckley of May township was chosen chairman for the upcoming year. W J Edwards of Amboy urged support for a $60,000,000 road bond issue on the November ballot, and the measure passed. Weekend visitors included Mrs Frank Bohart and her son Frank at Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Mrs Ross Bratton of Franklin Grove stayed with her mother Mrs George Hisenberg.

Readers Renew Subscriptions As Linotype Arrives

Will Goggin of Mergenthaler Linotype Co. installed a new linotype, trained staff, and helped publish on time. The week saw many readers renew subscriptions from Ashton to Rochelle and beyond, easing the paper’s financial burden. An appeal to district women asks for old muslin fabrics to aid war work and surgical dressings.

Uneted Evangelical Notes for Upcoming Services

Uneted Evangelical announces Sunday School at 9 30 a m and preaching at 10 30 a m on the coming Sabbath. Evening services begin at 6 45 p m led by F H Boyd with 7 30 p m preaching. A reception for the new pastor and his wife is set for Friday at 7 30 p m urging all members and friends to attend.

Died Sudden and Survived by Large Family in Bradford

John Jacobs died suddenly Tuesday at 3 30 PM at his Bradford township home after a paralytic stroke eight years earlier. He leaves a widow and seven children Jacob Mrs Clarence Lichty Mrs August Butler William Henry Joseph and Anna. Funeral Thursday at 1 30 PM from the home conducted by Rev EB Yeakel. Lee County Pig Club Enlists Youth for 1918

The Lee County Breeders Association invites boys and girls ages 10 to 18 to join the Pig Club. Applications to W L Riegle in Franklin Grove must be in by May 10 1918. Pigs will be supplied by a special committee with options for payment by note or cash and deliveries starting about May 25. Pig records run June 1 to October 1 with premiums from the Lee County Fair and a forthcoming Club Roundup.

PIG CLUB CALL TO JOIN TRAINING PROGRAM
