Early Franklin Settler Samuel Dysart Dead at 76
Samuel Dysart of Franklin Grove, Lee county’s prominent citizen, died at his home Friday morning after months of illness. Funeral held Sunday at his home with Rev. Alexander English officiating. interment in Franklin Grove cemetery. Born September 14, 1834 in Huntingdon county Pennsylvania he moved to Lee county in 1855 and built the 400 acre Pines Stock Farm in China township. He married Margaret J. Henderson in 1858, later moving to Franklin. Dysart held leadership roles in agriculture and insurance and served in freemasonry circles. He leaves three daughters and four sons, plus two brothers.

Franklin Grove Couple Wed In Presbyterian Parsonage
Edward L. Lott and Alice A. Dierdorff were married Sunday at three o'clock in Franklin Grove by Rev. Alexander English. The couple will live in a newly furnished home in Franklin Grove. Mrs. Lott once clerked at Kelley's dry goods. Mr. Lott runs a meat market and previously worked with his father at the City Meat Market.

Installation of officers for Ashton Lodge No. 977
Friday evening saw the semi annual installation of officers for Ashton Lodge No. 977 IOOF. Officers and committees were announced for the new term, with 75 members reported and a post installation luncheon held for over 40 members. A new lodge will be established at Amboy on April 26 with Dixon Lodge No. 39 instituting and Paw Paw Anchor Lodge No. 510, Ashton No. 977 and Polo No. 197 conferring degrees. Amboy anticipated to open with a large membership.

Passion Play Well Liked In Local Lecture
The Passion Play presented in the Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday evening drew a good audience. Rev. N. R. Hinds of Mt. Morris delivered an instructive lecture, detailing the pictures with lantern slides and stereopticon. His description of the Passion week made Bible stories feel more real to listeners.

Will Have Another Course At Modern Woodmen Meeting
At Monday evening’s Modern Woodmen gathering the lodge voted to offer another entertainment course next year. The prior year’s course was not financially successful but praised for talent and effort. A committee was empowered to hire talent: George A Putman Friend O Smith E J Venerich Squire T Jennings and Ralph J Dean. William Heibenthal was elected school trustee for Ashton and Lafayette townships with 65 votes, the total vote.

Evans Farm Sold to Mrs Gilbert after estate sale
