Murderer Escapes From Essex County Hospital For the Insane
George Williams, a colored inmate, fled Friday night from the Essex County Hospital for the Insane in Newark. He had shot his wife in Newark on August 25 and was later jailed in Sufferns, then moved to the county asylum as a supposed lunatic. Police had suspected he was simulating madness, and his escape by picking a ward door lock and slipping down a fire escape confirms their belief.

Trolley Car Derailed In Long Branch Incident
A Long Branch trolley jumped the track near Bond Street and Cookman Avenue around nine last night. A wrecking crew needed about an hour to place the car back on rails. Two other cars were temporarily stalled and later moved north via Emory Street to join the Main track at Eighth Avenue.
