Cargo jet crash kills five near Lusaka airport
A Boeing 707 cargo jet chartered by International Air Services from Dan Air crashed on its final approach to Lusaka airport, killing all five crew members. Witnesses reported a nose dive as it descended normally, with wreckage scattered over several hundred yards and the aircraft completely burned. No passengers were aboard. Names of the dead were not released immediately.

Rhodesian base hit by guerrillas near Salisbury
A band of black nationalist guerrillas attacked the Gokwe military camp, 145 miles west of Salisbury, with small arms and mortars. Three men were slightly wounded and only minor damage occurred to buildings as a hunt for the attackers was launched. A police sergeant and two black assailants were lightly hurt.
