Controversy Over Nursery Density and Adobes Plan
Community groups led by CAN oppose Brooks density proposal for California Nursery arguing it risks water, schools, roads and the area’s historic park. City planning debate centers on up to 667 housing units, 125 percent over current zoning, and whether to separate density from an old town–style development. Dr William Barbee warns of spot zoning and impact on land value.

Newark marina plan faces mixed opinions from agencies
The Newark marina proposal drew cautious responses from ABAG BCDC and health and fisheries officials among others. Some agencies fear impacts on the National Wildlife Refuge and question the five mile channel’s utility for boats. The channel would be eight feet deep and ten feet wide from San Francisco Bay to the marina site. The Fremont Recreation Commission planned to discuss the project as a tentative topic tomorrow, while Turnlund planned private talks with Corps officials in San Francisco.

Council deadlocks on home bid in Union City
Union City council deadlocked over the Costanzo-Wilson Company bid for 1 1/2 acre Hilton Homes tract development.
