Edison seeks 128 million yearly rate hike for 2 billion expansion
Public Utilities Commission hearings begin on Southern California Edison proposed rate increases totaling 128 million dollars annually. The increases would fund a 2 billion expansion over five years to meet rising power demand, adding about 2 dollars per month to the average residential bill. Edison serves a 450 000 square mile Southern and Central California area including numerous LA suburbs. Opponent Tom Carrell cites impact on wage earners during an economic stagnation, with over 20 hearings set through April.
