Improving Streets Gain Compliments For Trimmed Trees
Santa Anita avenue east and west drives from White Oak to Azusa Road along with Orange avenue and Laporte street have been trimmed. F W Treen street superintendent has received praise for the improved condition and appearance. Brush from the work is used to fill the new breakwater fence from the Santa Fe railroad to Walnut street in the Santa Anita wash. He also repairs the west side of First avenue south of Diamond avenue after removal of an old water pipeline previously owned by the McCarthy company, which will bear repair costs.

City considers purchase of chemical engine for Arcadia
Board of city trustees at last Wednesday night discussed buying a four cylinder six horsepower chemical engine and auto truck from W D Walsh of Los Angeles for 1500. The machine, formerly used near Santa Barbara, features a 40 gallon tank, 150 feet of hose, three 5 gallon extinguishers, and room for 1000 feet of hose. The fire committee will study the offer with a report expected next meeting as grass and brush fire season approaches and Arcadia lacks adequate equipment.

Open Camp West Fork Reopened by Local Interests
Camp West Fork near Sierra Madre has reopened for the year under Ernest De Vore. About 50 Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce members provided a $100 000 bond and, with Anita Baldwin, leased the tract to the government with no ground rent and a future purchase option. The government will have water gas electricity and transport telegraph and telephone services. Fishing is reported better than in years with 6 to 8 inch fish and 12 to 15 inch fish in the run and many 3 to 4 inch fry in the stream, signaling a good season ahead.

The Colonial theater in Monrovia will host a two show benefit on Tuesday May 28 for the Arcadia Sun day school.
