Allies Carnival Raises Funds For Red Cross Groups

Colonial Theater Hosts Open House for Balloon School Recruits

Army Cadet Flies Into Hemet Street Wreck
Cadet C L Parish of Rockwell Field San Diego piloting an army plane diverted from a fog bound path and crashed in a Hemet grain field near Harvard street and Central avenue. The craft overturned on a street after a propeller and landing gear broke but the pilot was unharmed and remained in Hemet until Wednesday awaiting transport to Fallbrook and further flight testing before commission.

Birds have made the Arcadia postoffice their roosting place at night. Miss Wilson the postmistress cannot find the entrance but each morning she drives them out. She reported three birds inside when opening the office on Friday.

Arcadia cooks from the San Gabriel valley provided cakes to the new balloon school’s enlisted men last Saturday. A delegation including Mrs. O. D. Harris and several others served the pastry, said to be enjoyed by soldiers craving sweets. The Co operative Arcadians held a basket supper at Mrs. L. S. Emerson’s home last night.
