Chet Schwarzkopf Undergoes Operation For Abcess

Chet Schwarzkopf was operated on at Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles Sunday to remove an abscess in his head. His condition is slowly improving, and he is able to see friends. his father says visitors from old companions are welcome. A separate note mentions Swiss butter allowances under new food regulations: one fifth of a pound per person per month.

Murdered Mexican Found Near Monrovia Ambush Suspect Held

Francisco Sonoqui, a Mexican, was found dead in the San Gabriel wash east of Monrovia with a fractured skull and severed finger after leaving his home on a bicycle to visit friends. Jeff Thomperon and his nephew Oscar were arrested. authorities say Sonoqui was struck earlier and slain with a blunt instrument. The coroner's jury cited a blunt instrument as the likely cause. Thompson is jailed.
