Interests of the Arcadia Lumber and Supply company were sold to the San Gabriel Valley Lumber Co. E. F. Glass retires and may relocate to Winterhaven Arizona. Muller and Marmian take over the business and a son of Muller is expected to become manager. Glass leaves Arcadia but family remains. He serves as judge of the Recorder's court and his vacancy will need filling.

Ysobel Rodriguez must serve two and a half years in juvenile correction school for the attempted murder of A Okazaki a local Japanese rancher in a quarrel over wages. The shooting occurred weeks ago in Los Angeles. Okazaki lingered in Haben hospital for days but is now recovering.

Pupils Lead City in War Savings With Thrift Stamps
Pupils at South Santa Anita school taught by Mrs. Cockerline bought 26 thrift stamps and one war savings certificate. The students earned their money through small tasks like running errands delivering milk sweeping floors and other chores.
START NEW CITY PARK EXPECTS HELP FROM CITY
Work on the new city park began this week under the Co-operative Arcadian club. W D Millard plowed the ground and the site will soon be planted with flowers and shrubs. A pavilion and municipal swimming pool may follow. The club asked city aid to maintain the park and trustees will study costs and requirements before acting.

Poisoned man found at Rufus MecManaman ranch
Boris Mihailoss, a foreign resident living in Los Angeles, was found on the Rufus MecManaman ranch Tuesday morning apparently poisoned. Constable James Quiggle transported him to Haden hospital and then to Los Angeles. He is about thirty, had stayed at Aunt Kate Wright's, seemed penniless, but $8 and a US passport were found. Investigation continues.

Gas rates at risk as railroad commission could raise charges
Monrovia officials warned that gas rates for Monrovia Arcadia Sierra Madre and South Santa Anita may be increased by the state railroad commission despite assurances no hike is sought. City attorney J P Dunn said the commission has full power to adjust schedules for a fair return and that the city has 45 to 60 days to answer in the suit.

Rain and snow sweep through mountains this week
Heavy rain last Sunday night brought over an inch of precipitation, lifting the season total to 2.20 inches. The mountains turned snowy at higher elevations as a cold wind drove light overcoats back into use and temperatures hovered around 45 degrees at 8 AM.
