At a harmony filled town hall meeting in Arcadia city hall twelve nominations were made for trustees. D. W. Simms led the ballot and is expected to join the board along with W. H. Taylor and M. A. Ireland. R. H. Schwarzkopf is declared ineligible for lacking eleven days of a year’s residency. The treasurer contest shows M. A. Ireland trailing Fred Urban by three votes.

Clouds drift in from the sea as Monrovia’s season rainfall totals 7.62 inches, almost a foot below the year-ago record but still noted as growing. February brought heavier precipitation than 1917, with 2.44 inches on the 22nd and 1.37 inches the day before. The month’s total reached 6.41 inches.

Edison Employes Decide 10 Stick In Monrovia
Striking agitators aimed to sway Southern California Edison workers in Monrovia to quit. They urged linemen to strike for over an hour but met firm resistance. Two men quit locally, about 50 of 1400 are out, yet district agent Fred Schwartz says the disruption is minor and others will likely remain at work.

Start School Gardens Project Sprouts Enthusiasm

Arcadia Plans Swimming Pool At City School Grounds
After a PTA meeting in Arcadia two weeks ago the town moves toward building a public swimming pool at the First Avenue school. Architects are drawing tentative plans, bids will be sought this spring, and construction may start soon with funds on hand. A bath house will be built at minimum cost and water used for irrigation. Special days for women, boys, and the Mexican community are planned.
