Marriage of Miss Viriges to Geo Doyle at Brown Kern

Miss Susan M. Viriges of San Francisco married Geo Henry Doyle Southern Pacific agent at Brown Kern County on Monday at the bride’s uncle H V Falconer home. Ceremony conducted by the Reverend Henry A Fisk with roses in the decorated room. Guests from Wisconsin included F Falconer H E Spear Mrs M Seymour Mrs Y Ashley Miss Cora Pardee Miss Dora Doyle sister of the bride and others. The couple planned a Yosemite trip and will reside at Brown. W S S. Mr and Mrs Leonard Rule hosted a dinner honoring three Arcadia balloon school enlisted men with roses and flags and music after. Cooperative Arcadians Ice Cream Booth Nets Funds

The Cooperative Arcadian club earned forty eight dollars at its July 4 ice cream booth and intends to use the proceeds to improve the park. Members are active in park work and plan further enhancements this month. The Pioneer Nursery planted shrubs for Mrs. Frank Durt and the park committee met to discuss plantings. The club added two stars to its service flag and served ice cream at the new county ball opening.

Orchard disease demonstration moves to ranches for citrus cure

Farmbureau notes an orchard demonstration by Dr. H S Fawcett of the Riverside experiment station on citrus scaly bark and gum disease at the ranches of J W Iain and C O Peterson on August 27. A prior session at the San Dimas county farm bureau center drew about 256 ranchers with observers from Monrovia. The Arcadia Monrovia Duarte center plans its July 23 meeting in Monrovia with Farm Advisors Hodgson and Scribner present to discuss scaly bark, gum diseases, dairy topics, and cow testing.
