City trustees voted thanks to the Co operative Arcadian club for presenting a service flag with twenty eight stars. The resolution notes twenty eight Arcadia citizens in military service, over 80 percent of draft age, and pledges the flag’s honored display when City Hall is completed.

Judge Sherman Page Found Dead In Sierra Madre

The elderly judge Sherman Page, nearly 85, was found dead at his West Grand View home after a week alone. Marshal Webb located the body on a Wednesday morning following a milkman report of missed milk deliveries and daily light on in the house. Page had a notable career and three years earlier compiled a genealogy of John Page of Cambridge, Vermont, 1788 to 1842.

Murderer Is Held In San Gabriel Canyon Killing

John Knox, charged with murdering Herman Miller on Christmas day in San Gabriel Canyon, had a preliminary hearing in Justice Bouldin's court. He was bound over to the Superior Court for murder and remanded to county jail without bail. Knox’s attorney John Richardson failed to obtain bail. The degree of murder will be decided by the jury. Wind Storm Breaks Off Trees Across Arcadia Streets

A strong wind storm swept through the San Gabriel valley last week causing widespread damage in Arcadia. Ornamental trees were blown down along Santa Anita and Duarte Road while debris cluttered streets until Fr. W. Treen, superintendent of streets, ordered the street scraper to clear the mess.
