Hottest December in 37 Years Records Set in 1917

At the National Bank of Monrovia annual meeting the board reduced from eleven to nine and named Dr A L Smith as director. The bank reported a good year with growth in strength. Service Flag Planned by School PTA
The Parent-Teacher Association will procure a service flag with a star for each Orange avenue school soldier once names are gathered. At a Tuesday meeting, organizers asked for volunteers to supply names via Mrs. W. D. Weigall Mrs. J. J. Langle or Miss Norene. A short program included piano solos by Irene Wilson Louise Adams and Kathryn Hitchcock and a poem recitation by Evelyn Davis. Mrs. H. D. Davis of Los Angeles spoke on The Everyday Mother of the Everyday Child and offered two original poems on child life. Forty mothers attended.
