Report from Beaumont Texas on September 12 describes a large oil field fire spreading through the Keith Ward tract. Hundreds of wells are at risk as tanks burn and oil runs along the ground, with 419 producing wells in the field and fire apparatus mobilized citywide. Two workers reportedly burned in the blaze.
The Anniston City Council discussed lighting and water service from the Anniston Electric and Gas Co citing numerous complaints citywide. The water pressure problem at Miller Drug Co fire and hog pens in South Anniston and West End were noted. The resignation of Fire Chief Frank E. Brown was accepted with thanks for his service.

William Vaughan United States district attorney for the Northern District of Alabama has been removed from office for failure in attending to official duty. The surprise move comes amid no charges and Vaughn defends the cleanliness of his office. The White House may appoint a Democrat to replace him with potential candidates mentioned including Judge Thomas R. Koulhac and Oscar R. Hadley.
In Montgomery Alabama on September 12 Republicans weigh General Wheeler as a potential governor candidate. A so called citizens or white man's ticket with fair elections as the platform is suggested quietly. No clear indication if the general would accept. discussions have lasted two days via long distance between Montgomery and Washington.

Distribution and control aims include absorbing allied businesses and consolidating stockyards nationwide.
Mr Johnnie Wakefield an aged and respected citizen of Alexandria was killed this morning when the mule of his buggy frightened by a switch engine on a spur track of the Louisville and Nashville railroad ran and threw him onto the track.
