Representative Joseph J. Arnold of Calhoun introduces a bill to merge circuit city and county courts in Calhoun County into a single court to cut local expenses. The measure was sent to the judiciary committee for consideration.
Dr. H. D. Barr returns from the DeSoto mines where the present shaft reaches fifty six feet with continuous gold bearing strata and increasing values. Two additional shafts are started, one three hundred yards north and one three hundred yards south of the active shaft.
Mr. John Grass and Miss Lillian Butler were married at the bride’s sister Mrs. Fannie Jay’s home Sunday morning. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Belt White. Grass heads the tailoring department at Famous and is well liked. Butler is a popular young woman with many friends.

In Montgomery Alabama on September 6 1903 Judge Tuos G Jones ordered Sheriff Calhoun County to deliver to receivers Thos G Bush and Thos A Gilleapie all property of Southern Car and Foundry Company held under attachments. Attachments dissolved per aid ad judication by the district court of New Jersey. case filed September 8 1903 with Cas J Allison as clerk.
Birmingham Sept. 9 It is understood preparations have been made to resume operations at the Anniston plant of the Southern Car and Foundry Company. Proceedings for involuntary proceedings are noted as part of the background to the plant’s status.
Judge BE. F. Crook officiated two marriages at the Anniston courthouse yesterday. At 4:30 PM the couple were Mr. W. E. Beach and Miss Lillie Willis. At 6:00 PM the couple were Mr. W. F. Kennedy and Miss Ola Bowden. All parties reside in Anniston.
CHATTANOOGA Tenn Sept 9 Various papers in the case involving Judge Clark and the company were filed as the court ordered an injunction against the creditors. The action centers on rights to assets and pending disputes over debts and claims.
John Sumlin, a colored man, was captured in Coughinsville, Georgia, after fatally shooting Frank Palmer at a Fruithurst negro frolic. Sheriff Adams brought Sumlin back to Edwardsville. The last grand jury had returned a murder in the first degree bill against him amid a docket of 111 cases, including 66 crimials with seven homicide firs degree.

A serious fire in McFall last night destroyed Zack Laney’s residence and Blount Turner’s store. Exact damage unknown but expected to be several hundred dollars with no insurance. Origin of the blaze remains undetermined.
B A Howle and W G Howle were arrested today on warrants from Judge Emomett F L Crook after accusations by the P A Howle faction of the Anniston Mercantile Co. They posted $100 bonds and face a Friday 1:30 pm hearing. The case revolves around trespass after warning and disputed possession of the premises.
Capt and Mrs Figgins arrive to take charge of Salvation Army operations here after arriving from Chattanooga. They attend first services last night and express optimism for ongoing street and tent services. Captain Watgery from Atlanta will visit this weekend. Capt and Mrs Jacobsen, long in charge here, depart for Pensacola to lead an army corps.
