Depositors and creditors back Receiver Earle's reorganization plan for the defunct Real Estate Trust company. He will reopen the doors and pay all depositors in full, with preferred stock offered for part of the claim. District Attorney Bell vows strict action against those responsible for the dissipation of funds.
Funeral services for Grover Witt were held at his mother's home in this city and he was interred at Oxford Cemetery. Witt, a Southern railroad call boy at Oxana junction, died after being buried beneath slag when two loaded cars derailed. He leaves his mother, a brother Jack Witt, half brother B Dutley Casey, Miss Pearl Casey, Mrs Mamie Watson of Nashville, and nephew of Dr B D Williams.

John Loweybama, longtime chief officer aboard the Confederate privateer Alabama, died in Liverpool aged 71. He later settled in England and led a steam tug company in retirement.

Telegraph report from ST LOUIS Sept 7 says a gasoline explosion in a grocery store this morning injured fourteen people including eleven firemen and three occupants and wrecked the premises. One fireman and the store proprietor are believed fatally injured.
